Brief Itinerary for Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali
Morning: Arrive at Kigali International Airport. Meet and greet by your tour guide.
Afternoon: Take a city tour of Kigali, including visits to the Kigali Genocide Memorial and local markets.
Evening: Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel in Kigali.
Day 2: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Morning: Breakfast at the hotel. Depart Kigali and drive to Volcanoes National Park (approximately 2-3 hours).
Afternoon: Check into your lodge near the park. Optional activities include visiting the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo or a nature walk.
Evening: Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking
Early Morning:** Breakfast at the lodge. Transfer to the park headquarters in Kinigi for a briefing at 7:00 AM.
Morning to Early Afternoon: Begin the gorilla trek. Trekking can take between 1 to 8 hours depending on the location of the gorilla family.
Afternoon: Return to the lodge for lunch. Rest and relax after the trek.
Evening: Optional cultural visit to Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 4: Golden Monkey Trekking or Additional Activities
Morning: Breakfast at the lodge. Optional golden monkey trekking or a hike to Dian Fossey’s grave.
Afternoon: Return to the lodge for lunch. Relax or enjoy optional activities such as a visit to local communities.
Evening: Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 5: Return to Kigali and Departure
Morning: Breakfast at the lodge. Drive back to Kigali.
Afternoon: Depending on your flight schedule, enjoy a leisurely lunch and some last-minute shopping or sightseeing in Kigali.
Evening: Transfer to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight.
